The Siarter Iaith

The Siarter Iaith is a national scheme contributing to the effort to reach the Cymraeg 2050 targets by aiming to inspire children and young people to use and enjoy the Welsh language in all aspects of their lives - both inside and outside school.

This will have a positive impact on pupils, not only on school life but also as they come to realise the importance of the Welsh language regarding future employment opportunities, as well as their cultural identity and heritage.

Ysgol Dyffryn Aman’s Vision

The Welsh language belongs to all of us at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman – whether we are pupils, teachers, support staff, governors, parents, or part of the wider community. We all share responsibility for our future and, together, we can ensure that we increase the use of Welsh among our young people.

Our aim is to ensure:

• A strong Welsh ethos in every aspect of school life, so that everyone enjoys speaking Welsh and celebrates success.
• Close cooperation between all school stakeholders to promote the Welsh language and implement the Siarter Iaith.

Success and Next Steps

There are three awards as part of the Siarter Iaith: Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

We are extremely proud that our school was one of the first in Carmarthenshire to receive the Bronze Award in December 2025. The school’s 'Cewri Cymreictod' are now driving our efforts to achieve the Silver Award in the near future.
