Could you be eligible to receive free school meals for your child or children?
How do I apply for Free School Meals?
Applications must be made to the local authority where the school is situated. So, for children attending Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, all applications must be made to the Department for Education & Children in Carmarthenshire County Council.
To apply for Free School Meals you can:
- Telephone (01267) 246526 and a form will be sent to you, OR
- You can e-mail freeschoolmeals@carmarthenshire.gov.uk with your name and address and a form will be sent to you
- You are required to complete the Free School Meals application form
Benefits of applying for Free School Meals
If you are eligible to receive free school meals (FSM) your child/children will get free school meals and their school can access funding that will allow them to provide targeted support programmes, buy equipment and resources etc.
If your child/children prefer to take a packed lunch or make other arrangements, it is still important to register for free school meals (FSM) so the school can access funding for the targeted support.
Pupils who have received Free School Meals will also be able to apply for EMA funding (post-16 education)

Part A: Strategy Plan
Statement of intent
|
Ultimate objectives Breaking down barriers to learning so that excellent education opportunities and outcomes can be achieved by all learners, at all ages, in classrooms, online, and in work regardless of economic background. Current strategy plan * Provide additional literacy support within English and Welsh lessons to enable pupils to engage fully with the curriculum. * Employ 3 PLOs to provide targeted support for disadvantaged learners focusing on attendance and engagement. * Supporting and financing initiatives to increase cultural capital for disadvantaged learners. * Support students with the national mission of lifelong learning, with support from Careers Wales in year 11. Tracking and monitoring of post‑16 outcomes of pupils eligible for Education Maintenance Allowance. * Support for other students that may not meet the eFSM threshold but come from low-income households, including pupils with EAL. * Employing an attendance officer for targeted support with parents and guardians that are struggling to get their children into school. * Incorporate specific units of work and discussion activities for form teachers to deliver on the theme of raising aspirations with pupils during pastoral periods. * Provide a virtual school for pupils that are unable to access the physical school environment.
