Teaching and Learning Philosophy

The school places a strong focus on teaching and learning. All staff benefit from continual professional development opportunities, which improves the quality of teaching and learning. Our aim is to provide a level of challenge that motivates all our pupils through independent learning or problem solving opportunities, equipping our pupils with transferable skills for their future.

We have a committed team of well qualified teachers who are supported by dedicated support staff, and who promote the values and ethos essential for our school.

Our lesson planning is detailed, and is based on research about effective learning. Tasks are planned to reflect a well-balanced range of activities and include a range of teaching and learning styles.

Independent Learning from Home

Independent learning is considered to be essential in order to reinforce and practise the work carried out in lessons. Pupils are regularly set a variety of tasks eg. written work, research, learning work, reading, etc which they are encouraged to complete or extend at home. The tasks will be recorded on the ClassCharts app.
