Future Destinations
At Ysgol Dyffryn Aman we have a comprehensive programme designed to support students with the next steps of their journey whether that is an application to higher education through UCAS, an application to apprenticeship schemes or job interviews.
University Support
Typically around 65-70% of our Year 13 students apply to do higher education courses at universities across the UK.
During their time at Sixth Form, Year 13 students are given comprehensive support for their applications to University. This includes visits from local universities (including Swansea, Cardiff, Cardiff Met, UWTSD and the University of South Wales), visits to university and culminates in our Futures Fortnight which takes place at the end of year 12.
The UCAS website contains valuable information about the process for applying to higher education for parents and guardians and you can access the helpful application guide here:
Support for Job & Apprenticeship Applications
While a large number of our students apply for university, there are many who prefer to follow a route into the World of Work, either directly or through an apprenticeship scheme.

University Access Programme
We work closely with a number of programmes designed to encourage wider access to university. These include:
These programmes are designed to enable students to explore university options, learn more about university life and to experience first-hand through visits and mentoring, what it is like to be at university.
Student Finance Wales
Understandably one of the biggest concerns that many people have when looking to apply to university is the possible costs and how the funding situation works.
During the first term in year 13, parents will be invited to a workshop (either in person or online) delivered by Student Finance Wales that explains the process to you and gives you a chance to ask any questions you may have.
You can also view the Student Finance Wales user guide here:

As well as direct support, we provide opportunities through the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales and the pastoral programme for students to learn more about budgeting, the costs of various pathways and locations to live and work and how to manage their finances.
UCAS have created a useful help guide for students learning to manage a budget:
