Careers in School

Over the last three years we have introduced an innovative, work placement programme which enables students in Year 10 to take part in authentic work placements. This means small groups working together with local companies to solve an authentic problem in the workplace. 

Over the past few years we have worked with local schools, entrepreneurs and businesses who have given their time to support students and give them experiences that will prepare them for the World of Work.

Partnerships with high-profile and prestigious local companies such as Corgi Hosiery, Frank's Ice Cream and Coaltown have provided invaluable enrichment experiences for our students.

The work placement is part of the school's REACH programme which is designed to provide skills to students that will help prepare them for their future destinations. This also includes learning about personal finance, leadership and communication. Careers and work-related education are a key part of the REACH course throughout years 7-11 and during the course of their time at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman pupils will have opportunities to hear from a wide range of speakers and visitors, including the NHS, RAF, Big Ideas Wales and international businesses such as Barclays Bank.
